Schedule OnlineWhen your current system is near the end of its life or you’re ready to upgrade comfort and efficiency, a new HVAC installation is the next smart step for your home.
Ellington AC & Electric provides HVAC installation in Rockledge, FL, helping Space Coast homeowners choose and install systems built for Florida’s heat and humidity.
Expert Heating & Cooling System Installations Across the Space Coast
A new HVAC system is a whole-home comfort upgrade, not just a swap of equipment. Ellington designs and installs systems for existing homes, remodels, and new builds across Rockledge, Melbourne, Palm Bay, Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, Titusville, and the wider Space Coast.
Common installation projects include:
- Full home AC replacement when the old system is no longer worth repairing.
- HVAC installs for additions, enclosed porches, and finished garages that need dedicated cooling.
- New systems for renovations and new construction with ducts and equipment designed together from day one.
Working with a local Space Coast HVAC company means your installation is planned around real climate and housing conditions, not a one-size-fits-all approach. If you know your current system is aging or planning other upgrades, this is a good time to design the right replacement instead of waiting for a breakdown.
When to Replace Your HVAC System
In Florida, heavy use and salt air often mean the practical life of an HVAC system is around 10–15 years with good maintenance. If you’re close to replacing your system, even if it still runs, these signs can help you decide when it makes sense to move forward with a new HVAC installation.
Rising Energy Bills
If your usage habits are the same but your bill keeps climbing season after season, your system may be losing efficiency and nearing the end of its useful life.
At that point, planning an HVAC replacement often makes more sense than trying to squeeze out a little more efficiency with repairs alone.
Frequent Repairs
If you are calling for service more often, your system may be at the point where replacement is the more cost-effective choice.
Multiple repair visits on an older unit usually indicate that major components are wearing out, not just one isolated issue.
Choosing a planned installation now lets you control timing, budget, and system options instead of reacting to an emergency failure.
Inconsistent Cooling or Heating
If your system has been serviced but comfort issues keep coming back, the problem is often design or sizing, not just a one-off repair.
You may want to plan a new installation if:
- Certain rooms are always hotter or colder than the rest of the house.
- The thermostat says you’re at the set temperature, but the home feels stuffy or clammy.
- The air feels humid even after long AC run times.
A properly sized, well-designed replacement system can smooth out those hot and cold spots and handle humidity the way it should in a Florida home
System Age and Efficiency Loss
Even well-maintained systems gradually lose efficiency and reliability as they age. It is smart to look ahead to a new installation if:
- Your system is in that 10–15 year range and repairs are adding up.
- The SEER rating is much lower than current standards and available models.
- You want your HVAC to match other upgrades you’re making to the home.
Replacing before a major failure gives you time to compare systems, review efficiency levels, and choose financing, instead of rushing under pressure.
Our HVAC Installation Process
A good HVAC installation should feel straightforward from the first visit to the final walkthrough. Ellington follows a clear process so you know what to expect at each step.
1. Home Comfort Evaluation
Ellington starts every installation project by asking how your home feels now and what you want to change with a new system. The team looks at comfort issues, humidity, noise, and how different rooms are used.
A typical evaluation includes:
- Inspecting current equipment, ductwork, and thermostat placement.
- Considering insulation, windows, and sun exposure.
- Talking through your comfort preferences, budget, and long-term plans.
This makes sure your new system is designed around how you actually live, not just a square-footage estimate.
2. System Sizing & Recommendations
Right sizing is one of the most important parts of a successful installation in Florida. Oversized systems can cool quickly but leave air sticky; undersized systems run constantly and still struggle.
A correctly sized system helps:
- Improve humidity control and reduce short cycling.
- Avoid premature wear from nonstop operation.
- Deliver more even temperatures across the home.
Ellington explains system types and efficiency options in plain language, so you can choose the installation that best fits your comfort and budget goals.
3. Professional Installation
A quality installation is what turns good equipment into a good system. Ellington’s NATE-certified HVAC technicians and qualified electricians follow manufacturer specs, local codes, and industry best practices on every job.
On installation day, you can expect:
- Careful removal of old equipment and protection of floors and work areas.
- Proper refrigerant handling, sealed duct connections, and secure line sets.
- Safe electrical connections and coordination with licensed electricians when needed.
This level of detail helps your new system run the way it was designed to from the moment it’s turned on.
4. Post-Installation Performance Check
Before the installation is considered complete, Ellington confirms that everything is working as intended. This final check fine-tunes comfort and makes sure you know how to use your new system.
This step includes:
- Verifying temperature split and airflow at key registers.
- Confirming refrigerant charge and system pressures.
- Walking you through thermostat settings, filter changes, and maintenance basics.
You finish with a tested system and a clear understanding of how to get the most from your new installation.
Energy-Efficient System Options
Florida’s long cooling season makes system type and efficiency key parts of any installation decision. Ellington helps you compare central AC, heat pumps, and ductless mini-splits so your new system fits your home and your energy goals.
Central Air Conditioning Systems
Central AC is a strong choice for homes with ductwork in good condition. Newer systems offer higher SEER2 ratings, better humidity control, and quieter operation than many aging units.
As part of your installation, Ellington can inspect your ductwork and recommend whether a central AC upgrade alone is right, or whether duct improvements should be included in the project.
Heat Pumps
Heat pumps provide cooling in summer and efficient heating during our mild winters, making them a popular option for new installations. Many Space Coast homeowners like having one system that handles comfort year-round.
Ellington installs advanced heat pump systems and can explain how they compare to straight-cool AC plus electric heat for your specific home.
Ductless Mini-Splits
Ductless mini-splits are ideal for targeted installations where ducts are impractical or rooms never feel right with the main system. They are common choices for sunrooms, garages, additions, and home offices.
Ellington installs ductless systems from brands like Mitsubishi that offer quiet, efficient comfort with individual room control.
HVAC Installation for Rockledge, Melbourne, Palm Bay, and the Surrounding Space Coast
The Space Coast’s humidity, salt air, and storms are tough on HVAC systems, so installation choices matter. Ellington designs installations for Rockledge, Melbourne, Palm Bay, West Melbourne, Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, Titusville, and nearby communities with those conditions in mind.
Choosing a local Space Coast HVAC company for your installation means your new system is set up for how homes actually perform here, not just on paper. Ellington’s community roots also mean you have a nearby team for future maintenance, tune-ups, and upgrades.

Before
- Due to poor installation, the copper lines will prevent the removal of the evaporator fan motor. Copper lines, once installed, cannot be moved unless they are removed and reinstalled.
- The customer purchased a 16 MPG system but this system was only performing at approximately a 10 MPG rating due to airflow problems.
- The air cleaner was improperly installed, leaving only 4” of space off the ground for the air to return into the unit. Leaving ONLY 4” for the return air is not adequate for proper airflow to the system. Manufacturers require 16” as a MINIMUM for airflow space.
- Live electrical wiring was left exposed by the installing contractor.
After
- Repaired electrical by relocating and bringing everything up to code.
- Caulked doors to prevent air leaks and/or intrusion, increasing the potential energy savings for the homeowner.
Ran lines to allow removal of internal parts and repairs. - Properly installed float switch and insulated drain line for proper drainage.
- Installed unit at the proper height for increased airflow.
